Camilla Araujo and Julia Filippo spent part of their "Tripping with Tarte" vacation giving back to an animal rescue on the beaches of Turks and Caicos, where they donated $30,000 to a local dog charity.
The pair joined a group trip organized by Tarte Cosmetics, aimed at helping rescue stray dogs in the area.
In a video shared to Instagram, Araujo and Filippo documented their experience meeting local puppies in need of adoption and learning about the challenges the nonprofit faced.
Araujo told the camera, "Today we are gonna go to the beach and do some charity work and help some puppies get adopted so we get to play with puppies."
Filippo joked, “I'm gonna steal 1 or 2 or 3,” before adding that her partner “100% gonna end up leaving with the dog.”
Both mentioned they were allergic but went anyway. "We didn't take her Claritin," Filippo said.
Once they arrived, the video showed bins of donated dog toys.
Araujo, visibly emotional, looked over a puppy and said, "You can't put dogs and puppies in front of us and expect us not to want to take it home."
The rescue organization explained the importance in the video, saying, "We have between 80 and 100 in our care. They're just born."
One of the caretakers pointed to a small dog and said, "That’s Andrea’s bottle-fed puppy. He was found in the middle of the road. The mother was moving the litter, and I'm afraid the mother didn't quite make it to the other side of the road, but we picked up the pups."
"There’s no shelter here," one member of the organization said. "Every penny that's raised goes to support these. We adopt out every single one. No dog left behind."
Filippo and Araujo responded by pledging $30,000 to the organization.
"This year we are making a donation in each of your names," Araujo said in the video. "We are giving $30,000."
"We are so inspired by what they do," she added. "So me and Julia wanted to match it. We hope that the puppies and the dogs everywhere... I know. Horrific what happens out here."
At the end of the video, Araujo encouraged viewers to support the organization, "Go follow them. Go to their website, donate. Not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something. You can do something. Love you guys."
