Tim Conway, most famously known for his tenure on the sketch comedy series The Carol Burnett Show, has died. A representative for Conway told Variety his death was caused by water on the brain. Conway was 85 years old.

Conway's long career netted him a Golden Globe and six Emmys. During his time at Carol Burnett (where he famously portrayed several characters such as Mr. Tudball and the Old Man), he won three awards for Best Supporting Performer in a Variety or Comedy Series (1973, 1977, and 1978), as well as an award for his participation on the writing team for the show in '78. His appearances on the '90s sitcom Coach and, later, 30 Rock also helped him secure two additional trophies for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy.

In addition, Conway starred in the '60s sitcom McHale's Navy alongside the late Ernest Borgnine. The two would later reunite in the Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants, taking on the roles of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, respectively. In 2012, Borgnine died from kidney failure at the age of 95.

Conway leaves behind his wife, Charlene Conway, as well as seven children from his previous marriage to Mary Anne Dalton.

Many took took to Twitter to express condolences and mourn the comedian.
