With season 2 of Stranger Things set to hit Netflix on Oct. 27, deeper insight regarding the season has to be expected. Vulture got the drop on Stranger Things features, publishing a massive feature with creators the Duffer Brothers, who let loose on a number of topics for this season and, surprisingly, the future of the acclaimed series.
For many, the news that Stranger Things appears to be already set for a third season is what was immediately grasped, but it's this quote from Ross Duffer that has us much more intrigued. "We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out," he told Vulture.
Keep in mind, he's not even trying to name these "seasons" ("I told Matt, I don’t want to call it season two, I just want it to feel like a movie sequel.'"), just continuations of the story. With season 2 taking place roughly a year after the events of the explosive first season, it might even make sense to have these seasons move at the same pace (especially when you have a group of kids growing into teens), but Matt told Vulture, "I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year."
There's a beauty in having an end date. Shows like Lost and The Leftovers benefited greatly from having an end-game in sight. This could ring true for Stranger Things, but now begs the question: how will this crazy journey end? We'll find out on Oct. 27, when the full second season (chapter?) of Stranger Things hits Netflix.
