Well, that was a surprise.
While we're not sure why the first trailer for the long-awaited Independence Day sequel Independence Day: Resurgence hit during this afternoon's regularly scheduled consumption of NFL games, we're better people for it. There isn't much in the way of knowing the full story here—we know that this is 20 years removed from the first Independence Day, that Jeff Goldblum's David Levinson is back on the case, and that an assorted cast of characters (sans Will Smith) are in the mix. And props to the crew for throwing President Whitmore's amazing speech into this trailer.
Oh, and it looks like our new alien opposition is HUGE.
