Prostitution is one of the world’s oldest occupations but that hasn’t stopped the booming business from operator in secrecy. However, one Reddit user hoped to pull back the veil a bit and asked workers what it was like on their first day.
One user described a pretty normal-sounding encounter that left her makeup smeared. “He basically fucked a panda,” user theladyinlace said.
Another offered his insight as “the protection,” and made a distinction between escorts and hookers. “Usually the people using escorts (in my experience, others may differ) aren't looking to hurt the person. They are often repeat clients. They talk about their lives, their looking for something they aren't getting,” user max_shade84 explained. “It's the people who use hookers who are dangerous. They are looking for release, nothing else, and if they have to use a hooker that release is often through something really fucked up.”
And what exactly is that implied threat? He added: “The type who hurts an escort is usually the type who's more afraid of police than I am, so they're unlikely to call the cops and explain they're missing teeth because they tried to assault or rape someone. These weren't bums, they were business men, TV guys and church guys, guys with families and careers. They had zero interest in involving the cops.’
While the job comes with huge risks, not every encounter is horrifying. User batsicle described her first encounter at 24-years-old, which felt more like a date:
