Remember when Google invited 14-year-old Muslim student Ahmed Mohamed to the Google Science Fair after he was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school (which was mistaken by a teacher for a bomb)? Well, it looks like he took them up on their offer. Mashable reports that the science enthusiast from Irving, Texas made a surprise guest appearance at the fifth annual event, and even met with Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

The fair celebrates the scientific achievements of bright students aged 13 to 18, with the winner receiving a $50,000 scholarship to go toward their education. This year's Grand Prize winner was 17-year-old Connecticut resident Olivia Hallisey, who built an antibody storage system to transport vaccines and antibodies for diseases like Ebola and HIV.

Mohamd, who wasn’t an entrant, will next visit the White House to show President Obama the device that stirred up so much controversy.
