Comic-Con Fan Says 'Halloween' and Jamie Lee Curtis Saved His Life

The classic horror film Halloween may have given many people nightmares as children, but for one man, the movie actually saved his life.

During a question and answer session at Comic-Con on Friday, a fan got emotional while speaking with Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis, reports Variety. He explained a situation that he faced when someone cut his phone line and attempted to break into his house. He said that he thought to himself, "What would Jamie Lee Curtis do?" before running out into the street and screaming for help.

"To make a long story short, I’m here today because of the way that you portrayed Laurie Strode," he told the actress. "I’m a victor and not a victim."

He added, "You’re the only reason I came to Comic-Con this year."

At this point, Curtis left the stage and gave him a long hug and a kiss on the cheek. She said, "These kind of emotions are real."

Earlier during the session, Curtis said about the film, "What made Michael Myers so frightening was his randomness. There’s nothing scarier than caring about a character and introducing a terrifying element."

Halloween, the sequel to the original 1978 film, follows Curtis, who is suffering from PTSD due to her encounter with Michael Myers 40 years earlier. "She lives in complete isolation, waiting for [Michael Myers] to come back because she knows he’s going to," Curtis explained. This movie ignores the many sequels that followed the original.

Halloween hits theaters Oct. 19.
