Reports claim that dozens of Nigerian women and girls kidnapped by extremist group Boko Haram have escaped.
According to NPR, roughly 63 of the 68 women and girls abducted two weeks ago fled their captors over the weekend. Ofeibea Quist-Arcton of NPR's Newscast division said they managed to escape while Boko Haram members left for a raid:
Quist-Arcton added that relatives have confirmed the women's safety. Despite this good news, hundreds of schoolgirls seized by Boko Haram in April are still being detained.
