The parents of George Zimmerman are suing comedian Roseanne Barr, alleging that a tweet she sent that included their home address following the shooting death of Trayvon Martin forced them to seek refuge.
According to the Smoking Gun, the lawsuit claims that the Zimmerman's were forced from their Seminole County, Fla. home "into hiding" following Barr's tweet, which caused them "severe emotional distress…and possible great physical harm, if not death."
In March 2012, Barr, 61, tweeted the Zimmermans' address, saying she wanted to let people know "that no one can hide anymore." She did note that vigilante action is what killed Martin, adding that she "[doesn't] support that."
Barr reportedly considered tweeting the address again, saying "If Zimmerman isn’t arrested I’ll rt his address again." The Zimmermans believe that Barr mistakenly believed that their son was living with them at the time.
Furthermore, the lawsuit claims that Barr's tweet was a direct violation of Twitter's terms of service, which prevents users from sharing the private information of others without their permission. They're seeking $15,000 in damages.
