After allegedly writing "n****r" on a receipt at a Franklin, Tenn. Red Lobster last year, a man has responded with a lawsuit against both the restaurant and the waitress.

The receipt went viral last September, compelling people to launch the "Tips for Toni" fund-raising initiative in support of Toni Christina Jenkins, a project that generated upwards of $10,000. However, Devin Barnes says he never wrote the slur on Jenkins' receipt and has filed a lawsuit claiming that the situation has sullied his reputation.

Upon learning about Barnes' lawsuit, Red Lobster issued an official statement maintaining their position and response:

This situation seems far from over.
