Russell Crowe is auctioning off personal items he bought with his ex, because even celebs are petty AF when it comes to breakups. The Sotheby’s auction is titled "The Art of Divorce" and will include 200 tangible reminders of Crowe's failed relationship with Danielle Spencer. I guess the sale isn’t that surprising for a man who allegedly throws phones when he gets upset.
The sale will take place April 7 at Sotheby’s in Australia, which also so happens to be Crowe’s birthday and the date of his wedding anniversary. It’s also around the time the actor’s divorce will be finalized. Charming. As per the sale catalog, the offering "represents the dispersal of a highly personal collection that was assembled by Crowe over many years, including those shared with his former wife, Danielle Spencer."
As per The Daily Beast, the sale appears to be friendly. Spencer must have quite the sense of humor. Crowe told Australia’s Daily Telegraph, "Just as we collaborate on the upbringing of our kids, it’s easy for us to work together on something like this. I think she feels the same way I do in regards to just moving on things that help create space for the future." Crowe and Spencer were married for nine years before splitting in 2012. They have two children together.
Buyers can expect to find gems like Maximus’s armor from Gladiator and a 1890 violin used in Master and Commander, the latter of which is expected to sell for up to $140,000. The total value of the sale is estimated at $2.8 million.
