John Krasinski Is Down for a 'The Office' Revival and Already Has Ideas

"I’m sure people don’t believe me when I say I would totally do it, because the truth is I would totally do it.”

One of the most binge-able shows ever created is The Office, and although the show has been off the air since it ended its nine-season run back in 2013, there have been some very revival rumor rumblings in the past few months.

Back in December, talk that NBC was interested in a new run of the show surfaced, even though the show’s lead, Steve Carell, would not return. Little information came out on the subject though. Jenna Fischer, who played Pam, said she didn’t know anything about a revival but she loved the idea, and would definitely return if the original cast and writers were involved.

John Krasinski, though, who played Pam’s love interest Jim, has been one of the most outspoken cast members. He’s definitely pro-revival, though he told Ellen DeGeneres back in February that he hadn’t received a call yet. Krasinki visited the subject again during a recent interview with IndieWire, and reiterated his excitement for a revival of the show.

“It’s one of those things where I’m sure people don’t believe me when I say I would totally do it, because the truth is I would totally do it,” Krasinski said. Fans will remember, though, that the show ended in a pretty satisfying way. Krasinski realizes that even if they were to get the whole gang together again, what would they even do?

“I don’t think anybody in our show sees that we didn’t end it the way we wanted to end it. We’re one of the very lucky shows that got to end when we wanted to, how we wanted to,” he said. “So I don’t know how it exciting it would be to do a run of the show, ’cause you don’t want to retread old things and have people not be as excited about it as they are now.”

He does, however, have a solution for that. NBC's The Office was an American adaptation of a UK show by the same name that aired on the BBC and starred Ricky Gervais as David Brent, the equivalent of Michael Scott, and Martin Freeman as Tim, who is similar to Krasinski's Jim. Krasinski has a theory that if NBC looked towards the UK version for revival inspiration, they could be on to something.

“I think the UK thing that I always have pitched and wanted to do is that Christmas special thing, where we do a Christmas special this year and then two years from now, or three years from now, we do another one,” he said. “I love that idea coming back finding out where everybody is. I would totally be down for that.”
