With the Game of Thrones penultimate season finale only days away, theories about where the season is going have reached an all-time fever pitch. People are speculating about what the last episode title means, Arya and Sansa Stark’s true plans, and even Bran Stark’s possible identity. However, one Reddit theory about the real reason behind Jon Snow’s mission to catch a wight and bring it to Cersei Lannister has fans buzzing.

Jon Snow’s plan was admittedly pretty reckless. The consequences were catastrophic: Daenerys Targaryen, his soon-to-be-lover/aunt, lost one of her beloved dragons because she came rushing to help Jon and his ragtag team get out of a White Walker battle alive.

Reddit user WeenahSixNine posted the following theory in the r/gameofthrones subreddit on Wednesday:

It’s a solid theory, especially because Tyrion is a sharp thinker and no stranger to ulterior motives. It would also add even more suspense to next week’s episode, which promises to have Cersei, Tyrion, Jon, and Dany in King’s Landing, in front of all of the people Jon is supposedly there to convince.

Most Reddit users thought the theory was believable. One Redditor, playazie, said “it will be a big deal to the people too if Dany shows up to King's landing with her dragons and doesn't burn everything to the ground,” because “Cersei has been feeding the people with this narrative that Dany is just like [her father] Aegon… If she arrived at King's landing with her dragons and nothing happens… the people will start to rethink how they view Dany.”

Fellow Redditor Janosrock eloquently added, “when the people realize they have a choice of serving Cersei fucking Lannister… and serving super hotness dragon mama queen Danny, with the motherfucking dragons flying in the background… it will take them seconds to leave kings landing.”

As for now, all we can do is wait for Sunday to find out how Jon Snow's plan will work in convincing Cersei and/or the people of King's Landing, and whether Tyrion has anything else up his sleeve. In any case, Cersei will likely have a surprise for her guests, so things are definitely going to be tense. Everything points to this episode being absolutely major.
