The Acolyte is one and done.
According to Deadline, the Star Wars Disney+ series will not return for a second season. The decision was made about a month after the Season 1 finale came out on the streamer last month.
Leslye Headland was the first woman to create a Star Wars series. In an interview with Inverse last month, Headland said she was uncertain at the time about The Acolyte getting a second season but was excited about the possibility of fleshing out certain storylines from Season 1.
When asked about the social media hashtag "renew The Acolyte," Headland admitted the gesture "warmed my heart" and "made me feel so good."
"It made me feel like people are invested and love the show, which is great because I love the show," the filmmaker said. "That was a lovely thing to hear, but also, I’m so proud of the show."
The series starred Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Barnett and Dafne Keen.
