Roseanne Barr Wonders If Coronavirus Is a Plot to ‘Get Rid of All My Generation’

Roseanne Barr is currently quarantined in Hawaii.

Roseanne Barr, the ousted producer of the Roseanne spinoff series The Connors, offered up a wild conspiracy theory during her appearance on the YouTube series Quarantined With Norm Macdonald. Namely that she thinks the COVID-19 pandemic is a ploy to kill the Baby Boomers generation.

"I think we're being forced to evolve. You know what it is, Norm? I think they're just trying to get rid of all my generation," Barr said at the four-minute mark in the above video. "The boomer ladies that, you know, that inherited their, you know—are widows. They inherited the money so they got to go wherever the money is and figure out a way to get it from people."

Macdonald, a fellow Boomer, entertained her theory, adding, "There's so many boomers that have money and do no work. So if you got them out of society, that would be a good thriller." Macdonald served as a consulting producer on the Roseanne reboot in 2018, but didn't hold that title when the show transitioned to The Connors. He was also a writer on the original series.

While Roseanne may believe that the Baby Boomers are being targeted by way of this virus, it's actually the Silent Generation, which is comprised of people born between 1925 and 1945. There's a 14.8 percent death rate among those who are 80 years old or older. Barr, 67, is part of a 60-to-69 age range that has a death rate of 3.6 percent.

We say all that to reassure her that she will likely be just fine. OK, Boomer?
