Deadline reports that Christian SlaterPedro Pascal, YaYa Gosselin, and Akira Akbar will be rounding out the cast of Robert Rodriguez's upcoming film We Can Be Heroes for Netflix. The announcement came hours after The Hollywood Reporterrevealed that Priyanka Chopra was teaming up with Rodriguez, who will write and direct Heroes.

The cast of Heroes will also include Andrew Diaz, Nathan Blair, Sung Kang, Vivien Lyra Blair, Andy Walken, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Lyon Daniels, Adriana Barraza, Boyd Holbrook, Christopher McDonald, and Hala Finley.

According to Deadline, We Can Be Heroes tells the story of the children of Earth’s superheroes joining forces to try and save their parents after they were kidnaped by alien invaders.

The plot sounds somewhat similar to 2001's Spy Kids where Carmen and Juni Cortez work with the man they initially thought was their uncle Felix to help their captured parents. However, Rodriguez's latest project seems to be operating on a much bigger scale with more kids working together to rescue their superhero parents.

Rodriguez's transition to the streaming service follows his 2019 film Alita: Battle Angel which took over three years to find its way to the theaters. Despite mixed reviews, Alita still managed to gross more than $400 million at the box office worldwide.

Rodriguez's relationship with Netflix already includes his involvement on the animated TV series Spy Kids: Mission Critical, which released Season 1 and 2 last year.
