After teasing the death of a significant character for quite some time, Marvel Comics announced that Ms. Marvel will "make a heroic sacrifice" in the upcoming issue Amazing Spider-Man #26, and the news has not been well-received.

The decision to kill Ms. Marvel, whose real name is Kamala Khan, was surely going to be a controversial one for the Amazing Spider-Man comic run, helmed by writer Zeb Wells and artist John Romita Jr., since she's the first Muslim superhero in Marvel Comics.

The fate of Ms. Marvel in the comics is even more puzzling, considering her place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Disney+ series centered around the character debuted last year. Iman Vellani will reprise her role in the film The Marvels, which hits theaters on November 10.

Spider-Man #26 will be released on May 31, while Fallen Friend: The Death of Ms. Marvel will hit stores on July 12.
