While talking about the hard times growing up with Fat Joe and Jadakiss, Mike Epps revealed he once made his father angry because he faked a suicide attempt in order to get a pair of Air Jordans.
On the latest episode of Joe and Jada, Epps recalled a time when he pretended to suffer an overdose in the bathroom by flushing pills down the toilet and lying on the ground for his family to find him. "My mother was 'Oh God, he killed himself! He killed himself!'" the comedian and actor remembered, laughing.
Epps said the actual paramedics were called to his home where he remained on the ground "acting like I'm dead."
"They knew there was nothing wrong with me," he recalled. "They was hitting my face, and my eye was blinking. They was like, 'You okay? You okay?'"
Epps said his family "played it all the way out" with him, which included forcing him to drink charcoal.
"They took me down there, and made me drink some black charcoal. That's what you take if you overdose," he said. "And I drunk it ‘cause I was trying to get some Jordans, n***a."
Epps said his mother ultimately bought him the Jordans, which made his father "mad."
He added, "It worked. I had to go all the way through there."
