Kathy Griffin Claims Donald Trump Directed Federal Agents to Investigate Her

They say time heals all wounds, but it appears Kathy Griffin is fully prepared to re-open an old wound well after it healed. Nearly a year ago, Griffin posted a photo of herself holding a bloody, severed head that bore a resemblance to Donald Trump. The comedian took down the image that same day, adding, “I am sorry. I went too far. I was wrong.”

Griffin disappeared from the limelight shortly after the controversial photo shoot before resurfacing last month to announce her upcoming U.S. tour which included dates that she jokingly said starts in “Trump’s backyard.” While it seemed as though she was ready to move past that moment once and for all, the comedian stirred up some controversy again in her interview on the ABC Start Here podcast.

In her discussion with host Brad Mielke, Griffin alleged that Trump told federal agents to investigate her. "You were cleared of any wrongdoing by the Secret Service. But you did say the investigation dragged on for months, and you have said this goes all the way to the White House,” Mielke said, perDeadline. “Are you saying that the president personally directed federal agents to investigate you?” Kathy responded, “Of course.”

As if trying to give her an out, Mielke sought some clarification to her response, asking, “You think he said, ‘let’s sic those guys on Kathy Griffin? Let’s make her life miserable?’” Griffin more than doubled down on her claim.
