Hal Willner, a producer and longtime music supervisor for Saturday Night Live, died Monday at the age of 64, Rolling Stonereports. Willner was suffering from symptoms related to COVID-19 prior to his death.
In 1980, Willner joined SNL, overseeing which songs would be used in sketches. He continued to work on the show since its last episode aired last month when Daniel Craig hosted.
Willner produced music for the likes of Lou Reed and Marianne Faithfull, helped produce scores for films such as 2002’s Gangs of New York, and served as music consultant on Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step Brothers.
In wake of the sad news, many people, especially those close to the SNL community, have shared some heartfelt messages and expressed their condolences towards Willner's passing.
