After a two-year hiatus, Alfama re-opens today at their new location Midtown. The popular Portuguese place ended a 10-year-run when a sharp rent increase forced them to close the doors on their former Village space back in 2009.
The same cast returns—owners Tarcisio Costa and Miguel Jerónimo, and chef Francisco Rosa—but with a new modernized set and equally spruced up menu. Staples like great seafood, chouriço, cheeses, and custard tarts, "natas," will still be there, along with new additions like rabbit meatballs, braised veal tongue, chicken gizzards, and pork trotters.
