By many accounts, Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's relationship isn't what it once was. At the very least, they haven't been photographed together for some time.
Swift didn't appreciate being dragged into Lively's legal battles against actor/director Justin Baldoni, Page Six reported. In one now-famous text exchange, Lively referred to Swift and her husband Ryan Reynolds as her "dragons."
In June, a judge rejected a request from Lively to keep her text messages with Swift out of the case. It all amounts to the days of Swift and Lively hugging in public displays at NFL games being a thing of the past.
Swift is known for her biting lyrics that take swipes at former relationships—everyone from John Mayer to Tom Hiddleston has faced her lyrical wrath.
So it's probably not surprising that some fans are waiting to see whether Swift "shades" Lively in her new album, which she announced on boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast.
"I’m just hoping the new Taylor Swift album has at least one Blake Lively diss track," wrote one fan on X.
"Blake Lively diss track on the new Taylor Swift album?" wrote another fan on X.
There are even fake Swift-Lively diss tracks on social media.
This is far from certain. Neither woman has publicly confirmed that their relationship is broken.
According to TMZ, Swift is the godmother to Lively's kids, which might be enough to keep Lively out of the lyrics.
A source told TMZ that Lively is bracing for fans spotting references to her in Swift's lyrics even if they aren't really there.
The source told the entertainment site that Lively "is excited for new music from Taylor" but added that she "won’t be shocked if some TS fans scrutinize lyrics to fabricate perceived shots."
So far, all that's known for sure is the name of Swift's album, The Life of a Showgirl, which she announced on the New Heights podcast.
