Fans of YouTube star Markiplier are looking forward to the release date of his new self-financed horror movie, Iron Lung, especially since the trailer was just released.
When will Iron Lung be in theaters? In January 2026, according to Variety.
According to Variety, the movie has been in the works for two years, and Markiplier, whose real name is Mark Fischbach, "produced, wrote, directed, edited, financed and stars" in the film.
The movie is "based on the 2022 indie horror game of the same name by David Szymanski," Variety reported.
Where can fans see Iron Lung? According to Variety, Markiplier is "self-distributing the film" to about 50-100 independent theaters starting the weekend of January 30. The movie will premiere in Los Angeles at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, according to Variety.
Markiplier released a trailer for the movie on YouTube on December 5, and it racked up more than 2 million views in a day.
"The final trailer for the Iron Lung movie. Only in theaters January 30, 2026," the YouTube page says, directing fans to a website where they are urged to reserve tickets.
"More theaters are being added throughout the day so check the website regularly. If it's not at your local theater please contact them and request it. Premiere tonight, will do a stream tomorrow to finally expel the demons and talk about this bloody beast," Markiplier wrote in the comment thread.
Fans appreciated the entrepreneurship.
"I gotta say something no one seems to have addressed yet. Mark did this with no distributor. He negotiated with the movie theaters directly. That’s very admirable and really shows that Mark acts what he preaches. Congratulations, Mark! Well done. Can’t wait to see it," wrote one fan on his comment thread.
"Theaters are already selling out and it’s only hours since thr trailer dropped. PLEASE keep contact your local theaters for additional shows. Making this a huge success will help push the movie for international viewing!!" wrote another person.
