Fans of the Magic Kingdom could have a 5th new theme park to look forward to. However, it's not certain and could be far in the future.

Still, Disney World is considering making the move.

A "new major theme park" is mentioned as a possibility in planning documents that were released by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. The documents also mention the possibility of two new minor theme parks.

The resort today currently includes four major theme parks, a sports complex, 47 hotels and resorts, and camp and RV sites, among other entertainment facilities, the document says.

According to People, Disney also envisions the possibility of creating "new resort hotels, additional shopping and dining areas and an 18-hole golf course at its Orlando Resort."

The company is considering developing another 2,629 acres, including 500 acres devoted to the new major theme park, People reported.

That doesn't mean a new theme park is coming any time soon, though, as the plans run through 2045, the outlet noted. And it's not clear what it would entail exactly.

Although Disney has not officially announced that it is planning a 5th theme park, the language in the planning documents "suggests the possibility remains under active consideration," according to WDW Magic.

According to that site, the term "new major theme park" means a new park along the size of Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom.

Although it's not certain the new park will happen, Disney is reserving the option by mentioning the possibility in the planning documents, WDW Magic reported.

The possibility of a "fifth gate" was mentioned in a previous Disney planning document as well, according to that site.

Meanwhile, attendance estimates run high. Disney "is projected to welcome 99.3 million visitors a year by 2045," which would be an almost doubling of current attendance figures, according to The Orange County Register.
