Disney CEO Bob Iger is currently the target of sports fans' wrath over the ongoing YouTube TV blackout.

His massive net worth is not helping matters.

Iger is married to Willow Bay, a former television journalist who is the dean of a prominent university.

"A broadcast journalist, media pioneer and digital communication leader, Willow Bay is the dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where she has advanced student-centered, industry-engaged curricula and programs, increased access to new technology and data solutions, and expanded scholarship support for the next generation of media innovators," her college bio says.

In 2019, Forbes estimated that Iger's net worth was already about $690 million, driven in part by his $65 million annual salary at Disney. Iger's 2024 pay package, which includes his salary and other compensation (the latest available), was more than $41 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. His compensation, including a $1 million salary, was about $31 million the year before, The Los Angeles Times reported.

According to Business Insider, Iger and his wife have taken a "controlling interest" in a women's soccer team in California.

A Disney heir, Abigail Disney, spoke out about Iger's salary in 2019.

"Let me very clear. I like Bob Iger. I do NOT speak for my family but only for myself. Other than owning shares (not that many) I have no more say in what happens there than anyone else. But by any objective measure a pay ratio over a thousand is insane," she wrote on X.

Her comments came after Equilar described a massive ratio between Iger's salary and the average Disney worker's. According to Fast Company, Iger's salary increased 80 percent that year.

The blackout due to a contract impasse has robbed millions of sports fans of the ability to watch Monday Night Football and NBA and college football games.

YouTube TV posted a note to its 10 million subscribers amid the blackout. "As of October 30, 2025, our agreement with Disney has expired, and their content is not currently available on YouTube TV. Each time we renew our contracts with network partners, we advocate for fair pricing and greater flexibility to offer our subscribers the best possible live TV experience. Our current agreement with Disney has approached its renewal date, and we will not agree to terms that disadvantage our members while benefiting Disney’s own live TV products," it read.

"It’s our goal to restore Disney content to YouTube TV, but if we can't reach an agreement and their content is unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $20 credit. If this happens, you'll receive an email with more information. You can continue to watch Disney’s sports programming by signing up for ESPN directly."
