David Diao, "TMI"

Veteran painter David Diao has been showcasing his works at Postmasters since its opening in 1985. "TMI" serves as Diao's eleventh exhibit and the last for the gallery, which will be changing locations. The exhibit takes a critical look at painting and its history.

Thomas Ruff: photograms and ma.r.s.

This weekend is the last chance to view Thomas Ruff's two latest exhibits, photograms and ma.r.s. The photogram series showcases abstract figures inspired by 1920s photography. The ma.r.s. exhibit includes actual photos of Mars taken aboard NASA spacecraft. 3D glasses will also be distributed, making the out-of-this-world images come alive.

Sounds of the Brill Building

The Joe McGinty Seven and members from The Losers Lounge perform pieces from the historical Brill Builidng, known as the epicenter for the greatest pop songs in the '50s and '60s. Division chief George Boziwick will also be giving thoughtful commentary during the event.

Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair

The annual Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair is the ultimate street festival for fans of the film festival. Guests can also attend a free screening of The Smurfs at BMCC/Tribeca with a special appearance by Christina Ricci.


Eighth Avenue Festival

New York Night Train's DJ Jonathan Toubin will be spinning at this animal-inspired event with exotic rock and roll music from the '50s and '60s. The event also celebrates Toubin's one-year anniversary of his return to the turntables and a send-off for his overseas tour. Free entrance requires animal print attire.


Dream Yosacoi, Matsuri New York

Naruko Yosakoi is one of the largest dance festivals in Tokyo. In hopes of promoting the Japanese culture worldwide, the festival brings over 60 dancers to Times Square for an exciting performance.
