Tyler, the Creator Joins Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow for Josh Safdie A24 Film ‘Marty Supreme’

After years of gracing the television screen in addition to his fruitful music career, Tyler, the Creator will make his acting debut on the big screen in an A24 film.

According to Deadline, the "Hot Wind Blows" rapper will star alongside Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow in the Josh Safdie-directed Marty Supreme. While the film's plot is currently under wraps, it's reportedly inspired by the life of late Jewish table tennis athlete Marty Reisman, who died in 2012 at 82.

From 1946 to 2002, Reisman won 22 ping-pong titles, also being named the U.S. Men’s singles champion in 1958 and 1960. At 67 years old, Reisman became the oldest player to to win national competition of a racket sport.

In 1974, Reisman would publish his biography The Money Player, where he retold his professional and personal life story as a traveling table tennis star.

To date, Tyler has created television shows Loiter Squad and The Jellies, both of which he's also starred in, along with making cameos in past episodes of Black Dynamite, Regular Show and more. Marty Supreme will make Tyler's first proper theatrical role, although he's also been in 2022 comedy film Jackass Forever.

Safdie, who's one-half of director duo the Safdie Brothers, last released a full-length film, titled The Pleasure of Being Robbed, in 2008.
