Taraji P. Henson has made it clear that she's not here for any plastic surgery rumors, directly addressing the speculation on social media.
On Thursday (June 11), The Color Purple actor posted an Instagram carousel of her attendance at Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Rather than complimenting Henson on her pixie cut or all-denim look styled by Kollin Carter, one follower commented how the actor looked "different."
After a person replied by alleging that Henson’s pictures were edited, per People, Henson jumped in the dialogue by denying that she’s gotten facial enhancements. "Y’all kill me with this shit," Henson began. "I HAVE DONE NOTHING TO MY FUCKING FACE. I AM ON BROADWAY!!!"
Henson is currently acting opposite Cedric the Entertainer in August Wilson’s play Joe Turner's Come and Gone, which continues until July 26. The Baby Boy actor continued her caption by asking when she would have time for surgery. "JUST STOP THE MADNESS. LIKE FR," she said.
Taraji P. Henson’s reaction was valid considering she's been plagued by surgery rumors before. The actor was previously candid about her health in a 2021 interview with Women’s Health in 2021, where she detailed a long history of stomach problems that could have led to cancer.
In April, Henson expressed frustration over not landing a franchise movie role — but said she always had a feeling it wouldn't happen.
On a recent episode of Hoda Kotb's Making Space podcast, Henson talked about starring alongside Tyrese Gibson in John Singleton's Baby Boy, and what people's expectations of her were at that time.
"That was huge for me. I was a female lead," Henson remembered. "I was new to Hollywood, and I just remember everybody coming to me going, 'Oh my God, you’re gonna blow up. Do you understand what John Singleton does to people’s careers?'"
However, the actor erred on the side of caution, explaining that her "discernment" told her she would have a different outcome than Tyrese, whom she "knew deep down" would bag a franchise role.
"After Baby Boy, Tyrese booked two franchise movies, huge: Transformers and Fast & Furious," she said. "I still have not booked my franchise film. Been in the game almost 30 years. No franchise film."
"I’m not gonna cry about it. I mean… I know what it is now. I’m on the other side of the table now. You can’t hurt my feelings anymore because now I know there's politics involved."
