1990s sitcom classic Martin will soon have a second spinoff.

On Tuesday (April 15), Deadline reported that BET+ is currently developing Varnell Hill, which stars Tommy Davidson returning as the titular character nearly 30 years after Martin ended in 1997.

While it hasn't been confirmed whether Lawrence will guest star on Varnell Hill, the actor-comedian is set to executive produce the show. Last July, it was announced that Martin will have a Young Martin reboot, which will focus on Martin Payne's Detroit upbringing.

With an eight-episode straight-to-series order, Varnell Hill is slated to be a workplace comedy that takes place behind the scenes of Hill's late-night talk show. Hill only appeared on a two-part episode of Martin, but he remains a fan favorite, as Payne crashed the talk show to transition from talk radio to television.

"Did you miss me? Well, now you don’t have to! I’m excited and honored to be a part of such a creative project with the brilliant mind of Martin Lawrence, over 30 years in the making," Davidson said in a statement about Varnell Hill. "Fans have requested it, and now it’s coming to BET+."

Earlier this year, Davidson explained on Baltimore radio show 92Q Jams how the character of Hill came to be, which Davidson improvised after seeing Lawrence being "mean" to the Martin crew.
