Samuel L. Jackson remembers Tupac '2Pac' Shakur being a "nice enough kid," but his wife, LaTanya Richardson, once had to scold the late rapper.
The new Tulsa King star reflected on 2Pac during his Tuesday (November 17) visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Around the five-minute mark of the video below, Jackson shared that he'd met the All Eyez on Me rapper several times before they were supposed to costar in 1993 hood classic Menace 2 Society. The rapper and actor was dropped from the film after assaulting one of the film's directors, Allen Hughes.
"When I talked to him, he was always nice. But there was an incident when we were shooting Juice," Jackson continued. Both actors starred in the 1992 crime thriller, as did Jackson's wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, who played the mother of Steel (Jermaine Hopkins).
"And so all the mothers were sitting in a room and 2Pac came through there and he was cussing somebody out and yelling, screaming," Jackson explained. "And my wife grabbed him say, 'Hey, don't you see all the grown women?' You can't talk like that and use that kind of language.'"
While bystanders were shocked that Mrs. Jackson confronted 2Pac, her husband says the late artist "totally apologized."
"And from that point on, every time he saw my wife, he was like, 'Hey, mom. How you doing?'" Jackson said.
But the incident was ironic to Kimmel, who pointed out that Jackson is notorious for dropping nonstop expletives in his movies. "Only in a room full of grown women," Jackson said, adding that when he's at home, he can swear whenever he wants.
The Jacksons, who share a daughter, Zoe, 42, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in August.
