Contrary to what some believe, The Naked Gun co-stars Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson were in a relationship.
The entertainers starred in the Akiva Schaffer-directed action comedy, which premiered in August, hinted that their relationship was one of a romantic nature. Anderson and Neeson attended the premiere of The Naked Gun with their children and complemented each other in the press, while leaving people guessing about the nature of their relationship
In a new interview with People, the actress, who's five times divorced, confirmed that she and Neeson were dating, and that despite what some people thought, their apparent romance wasn't a publicity stunt.
"Liam and I had a lot of fun. It was fun to go to work every day," the actress said around the ten-minute mark of the video below.
Anderson added that people couldn't "help but get caught up in the love story" of The Naked Gun, and because of her chemistry with Neeson both onscreen and off, peopel couldn't help but speculate.
"I was laughing when people thought, 'Oh, that's a publicity stunt,'" Anderson recalled. "I'm like, A publicity stunt? This is real. We have real feelings."
"It's just been incredible experience to have that kind of friendship," she continued. "Who knows, it's just a lovely experience."
Neeson was previously married to actress Natasha Richardson, who died from an epidural hematoma in 2009 after a skiing accident.
Elsewhere in the People interview, Anderson explained that she and Neeson were "involved for a short while" after filming on The Naked Gun wrapped. The actor whisked Anderson off her feet by once introducing her as "the future Mrs. Neeson" during a dinner at a French restaurant, and Anderson helped Neeson with tending to his garden.
Following their "romantic lost week," as she described it, Anderson says they went their "separate ways to work on other films," briefly rekindling the spark while promoting the film.
On TODAY in August, Neeson shared that he and Anderson had a shared humor.
"We discovered a silly bone in each other. … It was great to be with this lady, seriously. Every day was a joy," he said on the show.
