Mila Kunis Revisits Lying About Her Age for 'That ’70s Show' Audition: 'It Didn't Really Matter'

The actress said the lie wasn't her "first exaggeration" at an audition.

Mila Kunis told That '70s Show executives that she was four years older than she actually was when she auditioned for the former sitcom.

The Wake Up Dead Man star recalled her audition during an interview with WSJ Style for "The One" shared on Sunday (Dec. 1).

The actress has previously said that she lied about her age for the role of Jackie Burkhart and told casting directors she was 18, four years older than her true age.

"Once it happened. I mean, I started when I was 9, right?" Kunis told WSJ Style. "So at 9, you audition for anything and everything, but it was at a time where it didn't really matter what you were, how old you were. You just auditioned to see what would happen."

"So I wouldn't say that was my first exaggeration that I gave in an audition," she continued.

When pushed to reveal her other "exaggerations," Kunis continued, "Oh, in today's culture, I'm not telling you them. People would come after me. It would be like a witch hunt."

Kunis, who went on to marry her That's '70s Show cast mate Ashton Kutcher, starred on the sitcom for its eight-season run and occasionally appeared on its Netflix sequel, That '90s Show.

In a resurfaced 2002 clip from The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Kutcher recalled a kissing scene between him and Kunis was "slightly illegal" due to Kunis' age.

"What’s funny is she was 14 when we started the show," Kutcher said at the time. “I was, like, 19. And they’re like, 'OK, you guys are gonna be making out in this scene.'"

On the show, Kunis eventually revealed that their co-star, Danny Masterson, bet Kutcher $10 to French the then-teenager, which Kutcher clarified was actually a $20 bet. Kunis had never been kissed until filming the scene.

“So Danny bets me like 20 bucks that I wouldn’t do it and of course I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure, what’s the deal?’” Kutcher said.

Last year, Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison after being found guilty on two counts of rape. Kutcher and Kunis wrote letters to the judge in support of the actor, which they later apologized for.
