Marlon Wayans has revealed he nearly jumped in to protect Dave Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl in 2022 before seeing that Diddy had it covered.

On a recent episode of podcast We In Miami, the actor and comedian recounted being witness to Chappelle getting attacked on-stage by show attendee Isaiah Lee.

The man, who brandished a replica handgun during the assault, was sentenced to 270 days in jail for the assault and claimed he charged at the comedian for his material about the LGBTQIA+ community.

On the podcast, Wayans commented on Diddy's "heroic" moment. "You know, as bad as people can be, there's always something...They have heroic moments," the HIM star said, referring to the disgraced Bad Boy Entertainment founder, who is currently serving a 50-month sentence at New Jersey institution Fort Dix for violating two counts of the Mann Act.

Wayans added that he was almost the fourth person on stage to fight off Lee with Diddy and Chappelle. He also recounted a picture of he and Chappelle together at the show, which was seen in the latter's recent Netflix special, The Unstoppable...

"I tried to jump in," Wayans said. "I seen it happening and I wanted to get my stomp in, too. Everybody was stomping this man. You trying to stab our bro? Like, nah, man. We ain't going for that."

"So they all stomped him out. Diddy did stomp the dude and by the time I came over there, I was like, 'Ehhh, everybody got beat up already. Ain't no room left.'"

Elsewhere, Wayans insinuated that he "doesn't get down" with the freak-offs that Diddy had thrown, although he once again confirmed that he attended parties that the music executive hosted. "I didn't know about the aftie. I just knew about about the party [where we were] dancing on couches and sipping Ciroc," Wayans said.

The comedian also defended Diddy against 50 Cent, who executive produced Sean Combs: The Reckoning, a Netflix exposé about the artist. But after going back and forth with Fif on social media last month, Wayans was urged by his family to end the feud.

"My brothers, they were funny," Wayans told KTLA. "Dame was like, 'Why you pick the biggest brother? He's on gamma rays. Stick to beefing with Soulja Boy, Kevin Hart — people that we can beat. You fight him. Leave guys that got shot nine times alone. He survived nine!"
