Malcolm-Jamal Warner's widow, Tenisha Warner, has announced a new foundation in memory of the late actor — and it comes in time for their wedding anniversary.

On Friday (September 12), nearly two months since Warner's death, which was caused by asphyxiation by submersion from drowning in Costa Rica, Mrs. Warner took to Instagram to post a picture of she and her late husband on their wedding day. The couple got married in 2017 and welcomed a daughter in the same year.

Tenisha commemorated what would have been her and Warner's eighth wedding anniversary by announcing The Warner Family Foundation for young artists.

"Thank you for holding us in so much love during this tender time," Tenisha began the post's caption. "Tomorrow marks our anniversary — and my heart is wide open. For the first time, I’m sharing a glimpse of the love that began it all."

"I can still hear my husband’s laugh, still feel the way he made room for every part of me — every tear, every dream," she continued.

Tenisha added that she and her daughter "carry the legacy" to "nurture children's inner light" by providing "young artists the freedom
to create outside the lines."

"This is love, Still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward," she concluded.

Tenisha also included the foundation's origin and said her late husband embodied a river and ember as "two simple forces." "His presence was a river — steady, sure, and always moving toward what matters," the message read. "His spirit was an ember — glowing with encouragement, igniting possibility in those around him."

Warner got his start as a child actor, famously playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, later starring in shows like Malcolm & Eddie, Reed Between the Lines and The Resident.

At the time of his death, Warner was on a family vacation with his wife and daughter. The entertainer was 54.
