Helena Bonham Carter has exited the upcoming season of The White Lotus due to creative differences.
According to TMZ, the actor, who is best known for bringing characters to life in films like Fight Club and Sweeney Todd, has been confirmed as no longer starring in the upcoming fourth season of the popular HBO anthology series, which will be set in Cannes, France.
"With filming just underway on season four of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set," said a rep.
Carter’s character will now be rewritten and recast after production began on the new season roughly a week ago. "HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon," the rep added.
While the new cast member has not yet been announced, other stars on the show’s fourth season include Heather Graham, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Alexander Ludwig, Rosie Perez and more.
The third season of The White Lotus was set in Thailand, and after the season began airing, purported tension arose between stars Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood after the latter was parodied on an episode of Saturday Night Live.
Goggins, however, has since denied that he had an issue with Wood, who played his girlfriend on the show.
