Halle Berry Says Prince Once Asked Her on a Date on a ‘Piece of Paper’

While attending his concert, Berry kept her lips sealed after 'the Purple One' asked her to go out with him.

Late music icon Prince missed his shot at going on a first date with Halle Berry after the actress slyly turned him down.

"The Purple One" was married twice and had a host of muses, but when he approached Berry, Prince was practically shut down on sight.

While promoting her new film, Never Let Go, Berry made a stop by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday (Sept. 24), when she recalled the situation. Around the four-minute mark of the video below, Kimmel asked if it was true that Michael Jackson attempted to get Babyface to ask Berry on a date.

"I don't know. But I know Prince asked me out on a date," the Oscar-winning answered.

Berry said that it "sort of" happened in person while she was attending a Prince concert.

"I was at one of his concerts here on Sunset at the Key Club, and he had somebody come out with a piece of paper. And you know like kids do, you say, 'Do you like me? Yes or no' I went, yes! I mean, I'm at his concert, right? Yes! [The person] Came back out again: 'Would you go out with me?'"

But Berry, who was possibly in a relationship at the time, mischievously declined the offer. "No, I didn't send the paper back. I kept the paper."

The twice-divorced actress and mother-of-two is now happily dating R&B musician Van Hunt, who she met in 2020, just four years after Berry split from ex-husband Oliver Martinez.

"It took me a minute to get it right," she told Marie Claire in a recent cover story. "But the nature of the way this happened, I have a real belief that this is it. This is my person."
