A trippy encounter with Pauly Shore caused Eddie Murphy to never try Percocet again.

To promote his Netflix documentary, Being Eddie, the actor and comedian sat down with Collider's Steve Weintraub, who asked Murphy about his abstaining from drugs around the two-minute mark.

"Never had any interest in the hard stuff. I smoked weed when I turned 30," Murphy explained, adding that he was once prescribed Percocet in his twenties after a dentist appointment.

"And I remember In was sitting at the dining room table and I said, 'I feel good,'" Murphy joked. "I remember finishing that Percocet prescription."

But the experience that ended Murphy's time with Perococet happened while he was at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and had cross-faded with marijuana.

"So, I was sitting in a club and Pauly Shore came up to me, who owns The Comedy Store, comedian, and he was like, 'Hey, you don't even look like yourself tonight.' And I was like, 'Really? Who do I look like?' And he said, 'Some other dude.' And I was like, Hey, I'm not fucking with this no more."

In the documentary, per USA Today, Murphy said that even when hanging out with late soul musician Rick James, he was never "curious" about drugs.

The former Saturday Night Live castmate also recounted going to a blues venue with late entertainers John Belushi and Robin Williams, where he was offered cocaine.

“They put some blow on the table, and I’m standing there (between) two heroes,” Murphy said. “I was just not with it. I’ve never even tried cocaine or touched cocaine... I don’t drink. I don’t smoke cigarettes.”
