Djimon Hounsou reportedly kicked his ex-girlfriend out of his Atlanta townhome after she allegedly assaulted him.
According to TMZ, back in December, the actor requested that Riza Simpson, the mother of two of his children, to leave the residence. Hounsou claims that it was after his request that Simpson became hostile and struck him in the face with a closed fist. The actor also shares a sixteen-year-old son, Kenzo, with his former partner Kimora Lee Simmons.
Hounsou told the Atlanta Police Department that his children with Simpson were upstairs at the time of the altercation and didn't see the alleged assault, but may have heard it. Simpson was taken into custody on Friday (January 16) for simple assault and obstruction of justice after a warrant was issued. The woman was also accused of having produced false information to police. Per online records, she was booked into the Atlanta City Detention Center on Tuesday (Jan. 20).
Around the same time as the alleged assault, Kimora Lee Simmons told People that she doesn't have relationship with the several fathers of her five children, including the Blood Diamond star.
"Usually I would say that I co-parent okay, but the kids are with me full-time," Simmons told the publication. "I’m pretty much the primary parent. It’s difficult, but I don’t know sometimes what other people are thinking. Guys are weird."
Hounsou was last in the news in January 2025 for claiming that he was "struggling to make a living" after having an acting and modeling career that has spanned over forty years.
"I’ve been in the filmmaking business for over two decades with two Oscar nominations and many blockbuster films, and yet, I’m still struggling financially. I’m definitely underpaid," he told CNN Africa.
