It's a family affair in upcoming drama, The Piano Lesson, directed by Malcolm Washington, the youngest son of Denzel and Pauletta Washington.

The Piano Lesson stars Washington's eldest son, actor John David Washington, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, and an ensemble cast of Michael Potts, Erykah Badu, Danielle Deadwyler, Corey Hawkins, and more.

Denzel Washington attended the Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday (Sept. 10), with his sons, daughter Katia Washington (who produces the film) and Deadwyler. While speaking with People on the red carpet, the 69-year-old shared that he was proud of Malcolm, as The Piano Lesson marks his theatrical debut.

"I'm happy that people will get a chance to see what a filmmaker Malcolm is. I'm excited about our future together with [playwright] August Wilson," Washington told the outlet.

Although Pauletta doesn't have a production credit or role in the film, unlike three of her children, The Piano Lesson ends with a title card that reads "For mom."

"This movie is so personal to me, and the people that I got to make it with are the closest people in my life," Malcolm previously told People at the film's world premiere at Telluride Film Festival in Colorado. "My mom was at the center of it."

Denzel Washington will next star in Gladiator II and the Spike Lee-directed crime thriller High and Low.

The Piano Lesson will release to select theaters in on Nov. 8 before it comes to streaming on Netflix on Nov. 22.
