Cara Delevingne Says She Had a Seizure at Burning Man Right Before Viral 2022 Airport Photos

The model and actress opened up on "Call Her Daddy" about her dangerous daily cycle of GHB and cocaine that led to an unexpected seizure in August 2022.

Cara Delevingne revealed that the widely circulated 2022 photos of her at Van Nuys Airport were taken after she suffered a seizure at Burning Man.

The British model and actress bared it all on the Call Her Daddy podcast, explaining that she had been running a dangerous daily routine of taking GHB to knock herself out at night and cocaine to become alert each morning. During the Wednesday (June 3) episode of the podcast, Delevingne, 33, said that her seizure was the result of an unrecognized physical dependence on GHB.

Around the 1:15:00 mark of the video below, Delevingne said that she had sworn herself off of love after being in “too many relationships.”

“When you abuse yourself, you allow abuse to happen, right? That's as probably far as I'll go with that. But I think I was done with love and I was in a pretty hardcore time,” she continued.

Delevingne acknowledged that while she had “stopped doing ketamine” she was regularly taking a mixture of GHB and cocaine before reconnecting with her longtime partner, British artist Minke. The couple originally met while attending a boarding school in England.

“And from the moment we re-met after school, I was like, ‘Fuck, you make me feel safe,’” Delevingne recalled. “And that is something I haven't felt. And I am way more terrified of that than I've ever been of love.”

The model admitted that she had a “problem” but wanted to “get sober” after her “blowout” 30th birthday party. “I didn't know how addictive that stuff was. I just thought I took it every day,” she continued. “I didn't know that you really had to medically detox from it. And I started having seizures and…literally those photos were taken right after I'd had a seizure at Burning Man.”

Delevingne also recounted that while she had rented a house for the birthday bash, her friends, who were supposed to look after her, instead were watching the model “hurt” herself.

“I was so skinny and covered in bruises, and I just locked myself in this little tower and would barely come out,” Delevingne said.

In the 2022 photos, Delevingne was spotted looking dishevelled while outside an airport. The model would explain to Vogue the following year that she had been sleep deprived at the time.

“It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point, it was like, ‘OK, I don’t look well,’” she told the publication. “So in a way, those pictures were something to be grateful for.”

Delevinge added that after “interventions of sorts” she checked herself into rehab despite being ill-prepared. “All I knew is if I was continuing to go down the road I was, I would either end up dead or, like, doing something really, really stupid,” she said.
