The Boys spinoff Gen V has come to an end to make room for another offshoot that will make its debut in 2027.
According to Deadline, the superhero series, which began in 2023, has been cancelled after two seasons, just six months after its second and final season premiered. The Boys will end with its fifth season this year after it premiered earlier this month.
“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” stated Vought Cinematic Universe executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg. "You’ll see them again."
Gen V characters will be seen throughout the current season of The Boys, along with those in upcoming prequel show Vought Rising, which begins airing in 2027. A second spinoff, The Boys: Mexico, is currently in development.
Starring Jaz Sinclair, London Thor, Maddie Phillips, Derek Luh, Lizze Broadway, Sean Patrick Harris and more, season 2 of Gen V was pushed following the 2024 death of Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson. The 27-year-old died during a motorcycle accident on his way to set.
The Boys, which premiered its 8-episode first season in 2019, also included web series Seven on 7 and anthology series Diabolical. The show has won four Emmy Awards out of 12 nominations, with one nom being in the category of Outstanding Drama Series, making The Boys the first comic book-to-television adaptation to do so.
