Eugene Mirman, star of animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers, has reportedly been hospitalized after his vehicle caught fire in a car accident this week.
According to TMZ, Mirman, who voices Gene Belcher on the beloved Fox series, was involved in a car crash on Tuesday (March 31) and subsequently trapped inside of his 2026 Lucid Gravity. The vehicle reportedly caught fire after striking the Bedford Toll Plaza.
Among witnesses who pulled the comedian out of his car were New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte and a state trooper. The 51-year-old actor, born Evgeniy Mirman, has since been admitted to a local hospital to recover from his injuries.
"Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did. Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it,” said Col. Mark B. Hall, who was recently named director of New Hampshire State Police.
According to WCVB, the Bedford Toll Plaza has been the site of multiple car crashes over the years, most of which involve speeding.
"Take your time. Go a little bit slower through them. They're very narrow. They are designed to take cars. They hit them and they actually flip them," said Bedford Deputy Fire Chief Eric Dubowik. "So please, take your time going through the tolls. Safety first. Because if you don't make it to your destination, what's the point?"
By fall of 2027, the toll plaza will be part of a $16 million replacement, which will be switched to an entirely electronic toll system.
Mirman has been a main voice actor on Bob’s Burgers since it premiered in 2011 and starred in The Bob’s Burgers Movie in 2022. The entertainer has also appeared in episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Delocated, and former sitcom Broad City.
