AMC wants Wicked fans to resist the urge to sing along when the movie hits theaters this weekend.
Ahead of the movie's November 22nd debut, the movie theater chain announced that there would be strict Wicked screening rules, urging fans of the original Broadway show not to sing during the film.
"At AMC Theatres, silence is golden," the 30-second Wicked warning says, per The Indianapolis Star. "No talking. No texting. No singing. No wailing. No flirting. And absolutely no name-calling. Enjoy the magic of movies."
Another sign from an AMC location circulated on social media, also asking viewers to "please refrain from singing during the show," adding that a sing-along version will come to theaters on Christmas Day. According to Variety, the alternate Wicked version will hit 1,000 North American big screens.
"AMC has a long-standing policy that prohibits disruptive behavior," Ryan Noonan told IndyStar. "The WICKED preshow spot incorporates the themes of the film as a fun, engaging reminder to moviegoers to not disrupt the experience for those around them as they enjoy the show."
Similar guidelines to not record or dance on seats were reportedly announced to viewers of musical documentaries like Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.
But the Wicked advisory could fall on deaf ears, as some TikTokers have shared. While some are already preparing for the December 25th sing-along version, others have revealed that some viewers opt to sing during the movie anyway.
