Amanda Seales believes a misinterpreted remark about Erykah Badu had her fired from a writing gig.

During a Christmas Eve livestream, the actress and comedian explained that she was once in talks to write for a show that had Badu's then-boyfriend at the helm. The former Insecure star didn't reveal who the man was, but Badu is known to have previously dated animator and television writer Carl Jones. The TV executive was the creator of Black Dynamite, which Badu would occasionally lend her voice to.

Around the 38-minute mark of the stream, Seales claimed that there had been "many" times that Badu was unfriendly towards her in the past, as she recalled their dispute over the aforementioned TV exec.

"Erykah got me fired from a job," Seales alleged. "Erykah Badu got me fired from a writing gig. ... Her man was the head writer of the show that I was writing on."

Seales then recalled a conversation that she had with the man about Badu's agents having a "difficult time understanding her," saying that she was "crazy." "These agents don't understand crazy, they don't understand that we're not your regular-degular. So why would they understand her?" Seales continued.

Seales, who insisted it wasn't meant as an insult, added that Badu's boyfriend at the time thought that she was "disrespecting" the Mama's Gun vocalist, and dropped Seales from their television project.

"And out the blue, I got a text from [Badu] saying, 'Oh, I didn't know you were a comedy writer,'" Seales said. "I was like, 'Surprise!'"

Seales said that she and Badu had a "weird conversation" from there and denied wanting to date any of the singer's former partners. "We met because Jay Electronica and I were talking on Twitter," Seales said of Badu's ex-boyfriend, whom she shares her third child with. "And she DMed me and was like, 'You know Jay Electronica's my man.' And I'm like, 'Yeah?'" Seales said.

"But she never had anything to worry about," Seales added. "That's not my vibe."
