Actress and comedian Erica Ash reportedly died after a battle with cancer at 46 years old.

On Monday (July 29), Ash, who starred in shows like STARZ comedy-drama Survivor's Remorse and BET's Real Husbands of Hollywood, was confirmed to have died, by her mother, Diann Ash.

"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones," she said, per TMZ.

Before regularly acting in film and television, Ash played various characters on sketch comedy programs The Big Gay Sketch Show and MadTV in the mid-2000s. Among those who mourned her passing were friends and former co-stars Mike Epps, Niecy Nash, Loni Love, and Roland Martin.

In 2017, Ash spoke candidly with the Los Angeles Times about her journey and shared how she settled into a "well-rounded career."

"I live my life like I'm writing a book, because at the end of the day, when I’m in some old folks home and nobody feels like visiting me, I’m going to have the stories of my life to entertain me," she told the outlet. "I want to make choices based on what I want to read about myself when I’m older. For me, it's just about growing and moving forward."

She continued, "I don’t like to concretely say what it is that I want, because I don’t know what God has for me."
