UPDATED 10/29, 4:34 p.m. ET: Matthew Perry's family has released a statement regarding his death.
In the statement obtained by People, Perry's family said they have been deeply affected by the actor's sudden death.
"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother," the family says. "Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend."
They added, "You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."
Warner Bros. TV, which produced Friends, also released a statement about Perry saying, “We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans."

Matthew Perry, best known as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, has reportedly passed away. He was 54.
According to TMZ, first responders were called to his home to respond to a call about cardiac arrest. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Perry drowned in a jacuzzi.
Although no details have officially been released, there were reportedly no drugs found at the scene or foul play suspected.
Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1969 to Suzanne Marie Morrison and actor John Bennett Perry. After moving in with his father as a teenager, Perry opted to follow in his footsteps. He starred in a number of television series such as Second Chance and Growing Pains before landing the role of Chandler Bing on Friends in 1994. He was nominated for an Emmy in 2002 for his portrayal of Bing, but ultimately lost to Ray Romano.
Perry starred in a variety of movies aside from his iconic role on Friends, such as Fools Rush In, Almost Heroes, The Whole Nine Yards, and 17 Again. He was also known for his drama role as John Quincy in The West Wing.
Matthew Perry was been outspoken about his struggle with addiction in recent years, which he chronicled in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. Perry leaves behind no spouse or children.
