Target recently teamed up with Pokémon to celebrate 30 years of the franchise. The store dropped several limited-edition products, including hats, headphones, shirts, and kickballs. Fans were excited about the new products, but many of them sold out immediately online and in stores. Many customers complained that they didn’t even have a chance to purchase what they wanted due to scalpers snatching up items.

One of the strangest products that scalpers have been reselling are the limited-edition Pokémon-themed Pop-Tarts. They are frosted vanilla cupcake flavored with sprinkles. Each box contains six wrapped packages with two pastries each. They’re currently priced on the Target website for $2.89. However, as reported by Nintendo Life, some scalpers are selling them for up to $34.99, excluding shipping.

Many fans are confused about why the pastries are selling for so much online. As one comment on Reddit said, “This one I don't get, there's not even an exclusive sticker in the box or something, it's ridiculous.” Another said, “This is so strange. Pokémon does a lot of partnerships with different food brands, like Goldfish crackers and such. But they've always done that. What makes this one so special?”

Of course, Pop-Tarts are not the only product that scalpers are trying to make money off of after this limited-edition release. Many different products that Target offered are being resold for much more than their original asking price.

As Kotaku reported, “Scalpers are having a good time flipping other random Pokémon-themed items from the current Target promotion to folks who feel like they missed out. A combined listing of a promotional pullover jacket, a crossbody bag, and a pin sold today for $490. The jacket normally costs $130, the bag is normally $25, and the pins were free.”

There will be a second drop at Target on June 6 featuring more Pokémon products.
