Matt Kaplan, the husband of the Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper, is facing allegations of mistreating the staff at the Unwell Network.
The Unwell Network is Cooper’s media company, which has hosted guests such as Kamala Harris, Miley Cyrus, and Hailey Bieber.
Despite the large success of the podcast, working conditions behind the scenes may be less than ideal. According to Page Six, a source has claimed that Kaplan has allegedly “earned a reputation for frequently yelling at staff members” and even made one staff member cry.
The report also claims Kaplan threatened staff members’ careers, leading to some employees allegedly threatening to walk out while in the middle of film sets.
The 42-year-old’s team has not yet spoken out in response to these allegations.
Kaplan studied film while in college at Columbia University and also played quarterback on the football team.
Kaplan met Cooper through a Zoom call in 2020.
“After back-to-back meetings, I got in an interview on my last meeting of the day with ACE Productions, Matt’s company,” she later recalled.
“I got on Zoom and immediately started thinking, ‘Wow, this producer is very handsome — but, stay focused, Alex.’ There were about five other people on the Zoom from his company, but I kept just staring at Matt’s video square,” she went on.
The two began dating, and before long, Alex knew that she had found the person she had been searching for.
“We went on a few dinner dates in LA and sat in parking lots, pandemic-style, and there was no doubt in my mind after the first dinner that he would be the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with,” she said.
Kaplan and Cooper were married in a lavish ceremony in April, 2024.
