Netflix's highly anticipated upcoming Sabrina series officially has its star. Kiernan Shipka, who played Don Draper's daughter, Sally, on Mad Men, was announced as the titular character of a new adaptation based on the comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Shipka, 18, will star in what Archie Comics called a "compelling and shocking re-imagining of Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s occult origins." The still unnamed series will reportedly be a "dark coming-of-age story" penned by Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Sabrina, the Teenage Witch originally ran from 1996-2003 on ABC and the WB with Melissa Joan Hart in the lead role. As Variety noted, the series was originally in the works at the CW until moving to Netflix in December 2017.

Netflix has shown a penchant for rebooting nostalgic TV shows, having brought back the Gilmore Girls and Full House (as Fuller House), albeit to mixed reactionson both fronts.

In addition to playing the eldest Draper daughter, Shipka has also appeared on Feud: Betty and Joan and in upcoming horror flick The Silence. Early reactions on Twitter show fans are already behind the casting.

The rising actress also expressed plenty of excitement about her upcoming role.
