‘Pokémon Sword’ and ‘Shield’ Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019

Nintendo drops trailer for a new mainline title 'Pokémon Sword' and 'Shield.'

Last month, we gave you 10 Switch games on the relative horizon to look out for. A new Pokémongame was noticeably absent from this rundown in part because, though rumored, nothing was official and they're very dramatic with their announcements:

However, on Wednesday, which you no doubt have off because it's "Pokémon Day," Nintendo made it official by uploading a trailer for the Switch-bound Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, both of which are aiming for a fall release date.

The titles represent the first mainline games from the series to arrive on a home console.

The games (there's always got to be two with this series) will be in a new region called "Galar," and will also debut a number of new Pokémon, including this trio of starters (Scorbunny, Sobble and Grookey) featured about halfway through the trailer:

Trailers can lie, sure. But...so far, looking good.
